should legbands be removed as they mature?

I bought 2 new ducks the other day and they have leg bands on. Do I need to take them off as they grow? If so how?

Yes, you must take off the leg bands before their legs fill them up. I've seen chicks with leg bands that were left on too long and their foot was almost like strangled off with the leg band imbeded into their skin. If it is the spiral type, take it off like keys on a keychain. It if is the metal type, pry it apart, else cut it off. Whatever you do though, take the small ones off. If you want to keep them banded, buy larger ones to replace them.
