Silkie Questions about Size and Feathers-possible Frizzle?

Hi everyone! My husband bought me a couple of Silkie chicks for my birthday last month. They were the same size at a couple days old when we bought them. But one is much larger than the other and has started getting feather tufts on its head. Is it too early for streamers to appear? Is the size difference an indicator of gender or is this something that they both will eventually get as Silkies? I’ve named them Duchess and Dolly but I’m wondering it will turn out to be a Duchess and Duke. 😂 Smaller chick eats, drinks, poops and seems happy-just isn’t growing as fast as the other.
Also their wing feathers are very scraggly looking. Is this just an awkward phase all Silkie chicks go through or does this indicate frizzled or satin feathering? Thanks in advance!

I'm curious as well, I have 4 that are now 6 weeks and while they were originally the same size, one is larger and has a bigger poof ball for a tail and a poofier crest. I can't comment on the feathers, mine seemed to go through a pretty awkward feather stage before going fluffy again.

Yours are so cute!!! I love your names too, Dolly or Duke, they both go well with Duchess 🥰

That’s interesting! I wonder if some just have a more rapid growth spurt than others? Ah I see. We were surprised when the feathers started growing out like this, we sort of expected fluff. 😅 Hopefully we will get some feedback. 😊

Thank you! I wouldn’t mind having a pair but I have a Frizzled Silkie Roo so I won’t be putting them together in the event that these turn out to be Frizzles as well.
