My little black silkie, Ebony, laid her 1st egg today!! It's so cute and tiny!

I got her in March from the assorted bantams bin at the farm supply store. The man working there said they rarely send silkies. If he had known there was one in there he would have got it out for his granddaughter. 1st come, 1st serve.

Anyway, my husband saw my bantam cochin roo mating with her last week. Is it posible that this egg is fertile? If so I have a bantam cochin thats sitting on her own eggs right now. Can I put it under her to see what happens?

Still new to all this chicken breeding so any info would be appreciated.

Lot of people on this forum suggest not to try to hatch the first few eggs.
They may hatch, but theory is its better to have the chicken mature
enough to produce proper egg size for hatching.
