silkies vs sultans

What is the difference in them and can you show sultans. i am asking that because they are a rare breed.

Okay--I guess you hit submit before you were quite done writing/editing your post. I;ve certainly done that, lol.

Yes, sultans are a recognised breed. Their comb is different and of course they do not have silkie feathering. I will say that silkieXpolish look very much like sultans.

Is the silkie a heartier bird than the sultans?

My silkie girls really stood up to NYC winter very well. Their fluff makes them stay warm. I am thinking my Sultans might not be as eeasy to care for because they are smaller and hard feathered. I could be wrong...cause my Polish Bantam took winter on well also.

Thank you I live in Wa state and we had for us a pretty nasty winter this year and my hens that I had then were fine but they were also americauna chickens. Not a fancy bantam breed.

I had bad luck with sultans, but I have really good luck with silkies. I think Sultans do bad in cold weather. That is when I had trouble was when it hit 0 nights. I would reccomend haveing a barn or somewhere you could use a heat lamb in the winter if you was going to raise sultans my silkies did fine.
