Hey, typical story - bought 11 SLW pullets they are about 7 weeks old at this point and one is looking a little different than the others. S/he has a single comb, not a rose comb as most of my others - I do have a 3 or 4 that are single combed which is not completely abnormal for SLW. I can't really tell for sure whether it is a pullet or cockerel.

Here is the single combed possible cockerel:

And here is a normal looking rose combed pullet:

Side by side:

Could the difference in color and development of the comb be due to either a: an overly developed hen or b: be because it has a single comb and not a rose comb, or do I have a cockerel, as I am suspecting? Thanks!

Thanks! Actually that is a good thing, just like the Buff Orpingtons- I need some breeding stock, so it works out great. Good news!)

I have 90 birds and 240 acres of land, I plan on having an extensive breeding program LOL. Saves me from having to buy chicks again. The only way I will buy chicks again is if I have to add some genetic diversity or want a different breed.
