It was not the one that I thought would hatch first...maybe second, but not first. Number 11 has a larger air sac and was way more jumpy in the shell. I hear peeps from both of them but no pips yet.

Nothing much going on still...lotta peeping and moving of the beak if I "speak" to the chick but the zip isn't all the way around the egg yet and she seems to be resting in between efforts. I'm keeping the heating pad moist but not wet and things seem to be going well.

I've always clucked and cheeped and tapped at my hatchers....gratifying that they almost always respond.

She's a little BA mix so she or he? (say it isn't so!) will be a feisty chick and is probably the first one out for that very reason. BAs are real hoots!
