Singing to her eggs...

Sophie, our rescue hen, has gone broody. She's been in the nest box for almost a week, singing to her eggs. That's the only way I can describe it. It's a distinct noise she makes when she is checking over the clutch.

These are going to be interesting chicks. Our roo is a Showgirl, and we're pretty sure Sophie is a black sultan, at least in the most part. (Rescue chicken, of course.) I'll post photos when the hatch.
 
This is completely normal. Chickens have a destinct language. Personally I think this is why broodies have a better hatch rate than an incu and why chicks have a better chance of survival.
