I had an egg hatch and have a single chick until the other two eggs hatch next week. I have only had a group of chicks from the feed store or through the mail. I am really worried about this little chick it does fine when I am there and keep my hand in the pen with it but it just stays under the brooder when it is alone.I am gone all day at work I don't think it is going to come out and eat and drink unless I am there to stimulate it with the motion of my hand mimicking its mother.My husband says I am worrying too much it has instincts it won't starve itself but I am really sad and afraid it will.My hope is if it has the company of another chick they will be more active has anyone raised a single chick and any ideas to get it to survive on its own alone like this?
