I'm in the process of making some feeders for my coturnix pens out of 3" PVC. Planning on just using a uni-bit to drill some holes for the quail to stick their head in to feed. Wasn't completely sure the size though? Big enough they won't get their head stuck but small enough to minimize feed waste as much as possible. I was leaning around bout an 1" or so? To big? To small? Let me know wat you think!

Thanks
Luke

i used an 1 7/8 holesaw with the holes somewhat staggered then ripped a slot down one side to make filling easier, now i use a garden water jug with a long spout to fill it, if i build new ones i'd just use the holesaw and no slot.

I used 1 1/4" hole w/ 2" pipe and they doing fine.

So this is 3 in pvc pipe connecting to 2 in pvc?

Is the pvc that holds your feed 4"? Where did you get the 4 to 2 inch reducer? And then you have a female and male end elbow, correct? Im trying to make this feeder bc it looks great but im struggling finding the parts that would fit together and work. No one seems to have a 4 to 2 inch reducer that works like a funnel. They only have a flat circular one that actually the feed would get stuck in on the inside. Thank you. If you could post instructions for the picture I for one would really appreciate it.

This thread is 8 years old and the person to whom you replied hasn't been seen in over 7 years. I doubt you'll get a reply from them.
That said, I found a coupler that would probably fit your needs. It's a bit on the expensive side.
