Two weeks ago a hawk landed amongst my hens. My kids, dog and I were just inside the house and heard the fiasco and chased the hawk away without any fatalities. Ever since then my ladies are so skittish- they are barely venturing outside their coop and when they do they get all flustered and squawky and hurry back after a few minutes. I have been watching them closely and not letting them free range unless I am outside with them- but they don't even seem to want to be outside. Will they eventually forget about this hawk ambush or is this how my hens will be forever. They are still pretty young- they should start laying shortly. Thanks for the advice, this is my first attempt at chickens (and I LOVE them!)
