Gammas Bearded Babies
Crossing the Road
Newly hatched silkie bantam chick
Born with slipped tendon
Thought it was splay leg and treated it yesterday with hobble.
It was not doin as well as the other black silkie I had with both legs splay.
So son-in-law and I looked at it and researched based on the hock joint being so swollen on right leg and how it is holding foot up even with the hobble on it has a slipped tendon.
Today I removed the hobble and massaged the joint and could feel the tendon slipping...a sharp tiny bone had also begun to protrude from the skin now.
I splinted the leg straight and placed it in a cup but it was letting it stretch and noticed it's foot had begun to swell so removed the splint.
Do you splint a slipped tendon with it stretched straight down or in bent position?
This chick just chose to sit up and ear! It has been drinking on its own all afternoon- no dropper!
Please help! Emergency posts isn't getting many people respond so that's why I'm posting here.
