Slowed Egg Production, Molting??

This is our first year of chickens. We have 6 girls that are usually very good layers, but lately egg production has slowed down from 5-6 a day to 3-4 a day. There has also been LOTS of feather in the run and coop. Is it molting time? Aren't they a little early?

me too. my girls just got over avian poxs and i was getting 2 eggs day and now im seeing lots of feathers and getting atleast 4 eggs out of 12 layers 2 havent started yet. they are 8 months old i thought they molt at a year.

I was just coming on to ask about this. I was getting 2 to 3 eggs a day from my 3 girls, but the last few days it's been 1 to none. I don't see lots of feathers yet and everyone still looks fully featherd but where are my eggs? I thought it was a little early for molting and the days aren't that short yet. What's going on?
