While we were dog-sitting for some friends, one of the dogs got out and got at our rooster, Paxo. The poor guy's back third was oven-ready with the exception of one tail feather. (I was at work when this happened and when I arrived home, my husband told me that Paxo had been killed. When I asked if he had buried him for me, he said he hadn't found the body, and there was a glimmer of hope. I have read about so many instances where someone finds loads of feathers, but the chook is ok.) He was jumpy around our dogs for a while, but is just fine. I am sure Goldy will suffer less trauma than you from this experience.
