Spot on new chick

I have a chick born 3 days ago who has a reddish spot on lower belly. What is it and what do I need to do?

That looks like it's vent is covered. If it is you need to get it cleared ASAP with a warm wet washcloth. Just wipe gently until it's free and wear a shirt that can handle poop. If they had some that couldn't get out, it tend to just split out once the pressure is gone

Oh. Okay, it's probably the umbilical cord then. Did you hatch them or were they shipped hatched

It's probably an umbilical cord then. As long as no one is picking on it it should be fine

Hmm, do you have any way to separate them in the brooder? Or you could try using something to hide it? Honestly I've never had a problem with my chicks with umbilical cords

I separated it, just not sure how to help it....poor baby. Did I do something wrong in incubation?
