I had two newly hatched coturnix that were struggling to keep their legs under them on the blue shop towels in the brooder. Their siblings weren't having any issues. I was going to try letting them walk around on some carpet for a little while, but didn't want to keep them away from the heat for too long. Then I thought about some astroturf that I'd bought a while back and grabbed a small piece. I put it in the brooder yesterday and today I couldn't tell which of the 8 birds had been having issues. They seem to be running around just fine now.

I have the shelf liner in the incubator for lockdown, but hadn't thought to use it in the brooder, too. Good idea
