Staring to get concerned about pullet....or not to be a pullet ?

That is my question I have always been concerned about one of my girls not being a girl. Her name is Amelia egghart because she was always trying to fly the coop. But today I heard a startling noise from someone in the flock. I looked over and they were away from the fence. I am assuming something came to close and one gave a warning.....a warning that sounded awfully like a cock saying look out ....

So they are BO about 10 weeks old. See the curl in the tail? I have read rose comb. I don’t know what that is.

All look like girls,all chickens screech if something they see or hear is out of the norm ,usually roosters screech much louder while hens don’t as much,although I have some hens who will.

Looks like a pullet to me. My RIR pullet tried to crow this morning. So I guess some will try

Some dominant hens will crow. It's fairly common. Mine doesn't, but she does have a fairly rooster-like stance. @aligarysmom, that looks like a pullet to me.

This was not really a screatch. I have heard them warn each other. This was just different. It wasn’t a crow. Just sounded cockerelish. I can’t explain it. Just didn’t sound like a hen sound. Could be they are just getting older and sound like hens instead of chicks.

Well I also have to say. The noise was so alarming that while I was painting the coop I stood straight up and said what the f was that? Lol kinda funny. Then I went to get my husband.

I would love to bug my one neighbor with a rooster but I can’t. ...

A rose comb is like a pea comb with more folds.

Sorry,you’d aid she cries,thought the weird noise was a screech.Sound like you have late maturing male,it’s stull a chance you might have a girl but I doubt it,the hens usually don’t start taking dominant rolls such as crowing and etc till they are a Bit older.
