Started building my 1st coop ever on Saturday.

Did you put 1/2 hardware cloth over the entire bottom? Won't it be hard to relocate by dragging? Maybe you don't plan on moving it.
They won't be able to scratch and the poop will cake up on the mesh tho, but I guess it's a toss up between that and predator protection.

You are correct...My system of relocation because of the mesh is to put skids under the 4x4 skids and pull from that.

If I find predators to not be a problem I may abandon the floor mesh..

In June, I'm starting a new coop.. 4x8 raised at least 12 inches off the ground for run space under an an attached 8x8 run.. so 96 sq ft of run space and 32 sq feet of coop with daily access to the property.

This current coop will go for sale..
