Still screaming

I hope you have a smoother transition than I did!

It's all going really well now, we have the 1 mystery breed and 1 RIR, plus the new girls - 2 easter eggs, 2 Golden Wyandottes (may have butchered that spelling), and another RIR. My husband really wants a silkie or two, but I haven't had any luck finding them yet. Seems that numbers are the key to happiness.

Ha ha! That's sounds like "Chicken Math" thinking!

Pretty much, haha. But I'm so far sticking to my "limit" of 10! I just figured it'd be easier to get it all out of the way at once (for now anyway), the chicks were driving us crazy and I didn't want to spread that out over months and months until the flock was finished. We have cats that are probably ok, but not worth the risk, so the places I can keep the babies are pretty limited. Close quarters and loud, lol. They're fine with the big chickens, but babies just look like fuzzy little squeaky chew toys so it worries me.

The real problem is there are so many really cool chicken breeds that I've never even heard of! I can easily see myself becoming a crazy chicken lady with a giant flock, lol.

My husband calls me the "Crazy Chicken Lady of Molino". I lost most of my spring flock to a predator attack, so to rebuild, I ordered 25 from McMurray's hatchery, thinking that some of them would probably get picked off since I free range them. I ended up with 27 from the hatchery, and I still have all of them! So, I went from 8 to 35 with that mail order! Thankfully, I was able to brood the chicks outside or I'd be even "crazier"!
