Suddenly nervous chickens?

Well they have calmed down somewhat. Today I saw them foraging in the large open cow pasture. First time they've gone there in about two weeks.

Maybe they overheard DH saying that with that new shotgun he was gonna shoot some clay pigeons, and since they dont see any pigeons, maybe they think he thinks they are pigeons

I am guessing hawk and maybe a close call at that to put such a scare into them. Doubt anything else would make them seek the woods. Might be good to put some things out around that they can duck under if an aerial pred does come calling.
