the first time I did this, we were not sure how it would go over, there are a lot of older people, and a lot of younger, my first set of songs was , Just a closer walk with thee, I saw the light, This little light of mine, and then my daughter and I did 2 numbers that were songs sung by the isaacs, this side of heaven, and is not this the land of beulah. My roots are gospel bluegrass. The reactions to the songs was great! The people asked when I was going to do this again! So I do it about ever other month. I love the gaithers also. I let the other worship groups do the contemperary songs, and I just hillbilly it up with my sundays! They really like the older songs, even the youngsters!!!

Little Brown Church in the Vale or Little Brown Church in the Wildwood:

There’s a church in the valley by the wildwood,
No lovelier spot in the dale;
No place is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.

Refrain

Come to the church in the wildwood,
Oh, come to the church in the dale,
No spot is so dear to my childhood,
As the little brown church in the vale.

How sweet on a clear, Sabbath morning,
To list to the clear ringing bell;
Its tones so sweetly are calling,
Oh, come to the church in the vale.

Refrain

There, close by the church in the valley,
Lies one that I loved so well;
She sleeps, sweetly sleeps, ’neath the willow,
Disturb not her rest in the vale.

Refrain

There, close by the side of that loved one,
To trees where the wild flowers bloom,
When the farewell hymn shall be chanted
I shall rest by her side in the tomb.

Refrain

From the church in the valley by the wildwood,
When day fades away into night,
I would fain from this spot of my childhood
Wing my way to the mansions of light.

Refrain

OH! I love this one, haven't done it yet, Thank you!! Thats 1!!
the only other one I have picked for sunday is Because he lives.

Here are some other classics:
Amazing Grace
Old Rugged Cross
Peace in the Valley
How Great Thou Art
Sweet Beulah Land
Because He Lives
He Touched Me
He's Still Working on Me
There's Something About that Name
O for a Thousand Tongues
Through it All
When He was on the Cross, I was on His Mind

At church, we commonly sing ''He Touch Me'', ''Mansion on the Hilltop'', ''Days of Elijah'', ''As the Deer'', ''Prince of Peace'', etc. ''Prince of Peace'' in my favorite because it has different parts for boys and girls and it sounds really cool!
