Not entirely true. Copra is only available from one supplier. I have been growing Copra every year even though most places claim they are no longer available.

The really nice part is the the only supplier sells their onion plants for far less than they were being sold by the secondary suppliers.
 
I always grow Yellow Spanish. For me and my poor storage techniques I get 6 months from Copra and 3 months from Yellow Spanish.

I grew a red variety this year that Dixondale lists as a 6 month storage onion. Sorry I don't remember which one it was.

I had a couple copra that got lost in the bedroom I stored them. I found them in September and 1 of the 3 had sprouted and the other 2 were in great shape.
Couldn't beat them.... I would get 6 bunches to plant.
