swelling just below her vent?!

I just got a few chickens yesterday and I didn't take a good enough look at them. one has a walnut sized bump a couple of inches under her vent, it seems warm and is soft, red and seems to hurt her. my first thought is that it's an abcess but since is on her rear end I am worried about egg binding or something like that.
has anyone seen this before?
