Switching over to organic feed, once we bring the girls home

Next week we get our very first chickens and I just learned yesterday that the feed they've had thus far has had GMOs. They should be roughly 8-9 weeks old and I'd prefer to feed them organic feed. Once we begin that, is it safe to assume they'll be fine with the switch? Also, it's really unclear to me how much of what they eat should be grains and how much can consist of kitchen scraps and how much "other" proteins, such as bugs/worms. Are there guidelines that need to be kept in mind?
Thanks!

Generally stay under ten percent of what they eat as kitchen scraps and straight grains. More then that can unbalance their diet. Oh and they should be alright with the switch. There may be a period of what the heck is this. Eventually they will eat it, if you don't over feed the scraps while they get used to it.

At 8 - 9 weeks, I'd make certain that you switch to an organic starter/grower feed and not an organic layer. Good luck with the chicks and enjoy!!!
