Greetings!
My goal is to request that the district regulations that contain animal husbandry as prohibited, instead allow for a small flock of hens within city limits of Taneytown, MD. Currently there is no animal husbandry allowed in the residential districts.
I spoke with the Director of Planning and Zoning, Code enforcement Officer and he stated that the Mayor and Council discussed backyard flocks within the past year or two, and were not in favor of allowing them at that time. However, he also said I am more than welcome to submit a proposal, in which case I would have to win over one of the council members to sponsor it.
So at this time, I have begun my research to write up an effective proposal. I will be posting my proposal for review in a month or so.
