I've found (in my limited experience) that the chicks are colured very differently from the adults, but there seems to be no way to predict from the chicks what the adult feathers will be like. I had a chick that was atypical, the chick down colour was wrong for the breed- it was chipmunk coloured rather than yellow with red tips. Probably something in the background, she ended up with way too much black, and a poor example of a Buckeye. But all the properly coloured yellow chicks had splotchy feathers at first, and finished just fine.So their feather color pretty much means nothing for now? Ok. Thanks
