The Incubator Thread

What about 40w? Is this a good heat source for about a dozen eggs?

OK, you need to study some. A incubator is more than a light bulb. The temp inside the incubator needs to stay steady----around 100 degree's+/- a degree. So whether you use a 13 or 40 watt will be according to the temp. You really need a thermostat because without one you would have to stand over the incubator and YOU become the thermostat---turning the light on and off---if the temp gets above 103 you are going to kill the embryo. Plus vents and humidity are very important! Study, Study, plenty of youtube video's to show you how and plenty of info on line.

Howdy y'all, I live around Austin TX, and I am interested in incubating some chicken eggs. I like bantams and show breeds, but I really just like all breeds. Does anyone have some breeders that they would recommend? Thanks y'all
