The Moonshiner's Bootleg Incubator Reviews And Discussions

I was going to hold off a few more days on turning my shipped turkey eggs but I decided to just throw them in the GQF and hope for the best. I will lock them down a few days early to allow any developing poults to situate themselves and maybe the air cells will be fine by then. I will hatch them upright as I've done before with shipped eggs.

Maybe ignorance is bliss because I ordered 12 turkey eggs years ago not knowing a thing about shipped eggs and hatched them like normal eggs with zero fuss. Got 6 out of 12 to hatch on them. I'm hoping to get results like that this time. I will try to candle on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Woohoo! Glad to hear it! :yesss: Hopefully they keep going strong for you :fl

Out of curiosity, do you have a picture or any info you could link about painted turkeys? I'm actually not sure what they look like and all I'm finding with searches are paintings of turkeys. 😅

Porters sells them. They've only been in the US since 2015 and last year was the first year he started selling any. I'm stoked my eggs are developing. I have some younger grizzled painted black and chocolate, a slate tuxedo and a black tuxedo (painted and grizzled painted don't breed true and throw a percentage of tuxedos and solid whites).

Oh, how pretty! Lots of heterozygosity in that coloration, though, so I could see it being quite challenging to breed.

I should have known to check Porters for obscure turkey colors! 🤭
