He looked at her. "You know what I mean. With that girl. Hes going to run her off. You have heard the way he talks about her. He will scare her away. Their marriage is the only thing that will create peace between Alnwick and Edinburgh.
 
Gwen sighed. "Well then, I will be on my way. Thank you for the meal." She curtsied before turning away, about to leave.

Maria nodded her head. "So you're saying he despises the princess Gwen? If he refuses to marry her, whatever shall you do?" She asked concernedly.

"My pleasure. It's the least I could do for you after you practically saved my life," he said as he stood up. "I'll escort you home. Servant, tell the stable hand to fetch two fast steeds for us," he commanded.

He looked at her. "I dont know. You are the one he tells things to. And he wont refuse, he is going to marry her. He will do it for Alnwick." 'I will find a way to make him,' he though cruelly plotting ways that he could force his son.

"Oh that's ok." She said politely. "You have stuff that you must do before the evening is over." She reminded him. In truth, she knew that he just didn't want her around his dad.
 
"Well of course the poor boy doesn't tell you things! You terrify him!" Maria exclaimed. "You terrify me occasionally, too," she muttered under her breath.

Edwin offered her his arm as they walked towards the stables.
 
The king looked at her surprised. "How do I scare him. I have never raised a finger to that boy in his life!"

"No-no. Your busy, i wouldn't want to stop you from completing something that you must get done." She was still hoping that he would tell her the truth.
 
"Well, for one thing, your never raising a finger to the boy may be the cause of some of his spoiledness! He does love you, but some things you two are just going to always disagree on," she said softly.

Edwin shook his head. "I insist, on escorting you," he said firmly. "At this time of day, there are robbers galore! Besides, I'm not really that busy," he said with a slight grin.

Fent passed the hot drink to Linnet, then took his own. He glanced over at the door, Fawn hadn't been back for a while. He was contemplating whether or not he should go find her. He was snapped out of his thoughts by a hand on his shoulder. It was a maid, she was offering them fresh pastries. Fent nodded, then thanked the woman. He pushed the plate towards Linnet and smiled. His smile was sincere, pure and true.
