My DH (who wasn't having anything to do with "my" chickens) was sitting with his chocolate bantam orphan watching Tv when he announced
"look Fudge is hanging with HER peeps!
I suspect he's hanging out on backyard chickens while I'm at work.

Recently named a rooster after an old boyfriend who couldn't be faithful or make up his mind what he wanted!! This rooster has two hens that sleep on the ground while he is perched above them. Neither one of the hens has yet to lay an egg. Lol.

we currently have around 300-350 adult breeders, in a coop, 2 lean to's, and a barn.

not so much what i said but what i did. we are fairly established in our area, this time of year a lot of people stopping by to see what we have. a guy came to pick up some chicks, he observed me watering the chickens and "talking" to them for nearly 10 minutes. yes i carry on conversations with my chickens.

and my personal favorite, waking up my wife to "im going to the post office to pick up chicks."

then turning to DH laughing because of how bad that sounded

Explaining to my almost 16 yr old dd

I have to pick some stuff up for Fuzzy's butt

her- Why:

Well the others are picking on her so she has naked thighs and what looks to be a Brazilian Wax Job for a chicken
she has just this little strip of fuzz from her butt to her tummy
then all of us laughing because of how I described it
