Toulouse or Pomeranian Geese?

I bought four geese from someone who claimed the geese were pomeranian geese several months ago. Then a few days ago I bought 3 geese from someone who claimed the geese were Toulouse Geese, and they said they were from a hatchery so I’m pretty sure that they are Toulouse geese. However upon putting the two groups of geese together I noticed that the “Pomeranian” geese look the exact same as the Toulouse geese and the only difference is the new Toulouse geese are a bit skinnier because they were underfed by their previous owner. I literally could barely tell which geese were the new ones and which were the old ones when I went to check on them today. So my question is are they all Toulouse Geese or are the original 4 Pomeranian Geese? The two geese on the far right and the small goose in the middle are the new Toulouse geese I got and the rest are the supposed Pomeranian geese. Also I live in the United States if it matters.

Those are definitely Toulouse geese! I have both Pomeranian and Toulouse and they both look totally different from each other. The first pic is of my Toulouse in the grass and the second is my Pomeranian Saddleback in a bed of straw. They're easily identifiable at any age, Pomeranian geese don't change their patterns unless they're growing/molting, and Toulouse geese are always that grey color. :)

Ok thanks I love both breeds equally but I just wanted to know for sure what breeds they were to avoid cross breeding in the spring. It kind of annoys me though how the people on Craigslist who sold me the first set of geese had no idea what kind of geese they were lol.

I would like to point out that Pomeranian geese do exist in the gray color. To tell them apart from production toulouse or common gray geese in America you would need to understand the body type of the Pomeranian. I would suggest perhaps trying to contact the Society for the Preservation of Poultry Antiquities to see if someone there could help in identifying them. Unfortunately I do not have the expertise to tell you myself. If they truly are gray Pomeranians that is a special find.

I agree with you on that so if possible I want to avoid cross breeding them with the standard Toulouse geese, but it’s very hard to tell the difference, do you know of any key distinctions?

I wouldn’t want to be the final authority but it sounds like Pomeranians tend to have a reddish pink bill, red orange legs, single lobed paunch, flattish heads, and blue eyes. A couple might somewhat have the flatter head but I couldn’t see the other characteristics. In all likelihood they probably are not pomeranians. I would like to emphasize that I am no geese expert though.

I second what @IvysAnimals said! I also have Pomeranian Saddlebacks and what you have are absolutely Toulouse.
