I think I'm going to need to tie the tractor down since I live at the bottom of tornado alley. Do you think I should use rope or chain? I bought 4 spiral dog stakes and I think chain might be the easiest and the strongest, but as I am not a country gal and this is my first foray into building I'd like to get a second or third opinion. Thanks!

what are you goals? not to have it blow over in a 40mph gust?....60?

i think the simplest solution would be addtional (removable) weight at the bottom... a rail or stakes to accept cinder blocks comes to mind....

My goal is to have it withstand winds to about 50 miles an hour. We dont get that kind of wind often but it does happen. For winds much higher than that I think I'd have other problems to worry about. THer has not been a tornado in Dallas proper in 50 years, not to say it WONT happen but IF it did, honestly I'd be more worried about my human family.

If you don't have a fence you could tie it to, I would sink a couple of tee bars a foot or two into the ground.
