Triticale?

Does anybody know anything more about triticale? I have read the Wikipedia, but it doesn't provide me information re: is it better than wheat for chicken? They are at the same price here so I am wondering which one should I buy - wheat or triticale?

according to this your birds would be better off with wheat I think

Thank you, Wikipedia says triticale has more protein than wheat... argh..

actually, even this article says: Triticale has been shown to have more protein, especially lysine, than wheat.

yes, but it also says that "Broilers fed diets in which triticale makes up 30% or more of the content have poorer performance than broilers fed diets with comparable wheat contents." And "There is considerable variation in the protein contents for the different triticale cultivars." Why not try it and see how the variety where you are works for your birds?
