i have had a Turkey for about five years and he recently mated and squished a female duck to death, we are immediately rejoining him so if anywone knows anyone who wants a Turkey or has any advice on why this happened or how to prevent it if we get another Turkey, it would be greatly appreciated.

You need to keep turkeys with other turkeys. You also need to raise poults so they do not get imprinted by other poultry. In other words raise turkey poults only with other turkey poults. When they get imprinted by chickens or ducks, they lose the ability to understand that those other poultry are not turkeys. The same thing happens when imprinted by people, they lose the ability to understand that people aren't turkeys.

They are very social birds and have a strong desire to reproduce during breeding season. Other turkeys understand them and know how to communicate with each other.

Turkeys especially toms should not be kept alone unless it is a short term situation until they are processed.

There's no need to re home him, just give him his own large area, if not his own women.
We would do this but we just don’t have enough room and don’t want anymore birds until we move to a bigger farm where we have enough room for more, so rejoining would probably be the best for him.
