I am just starting my third year with chickens and she is my first broody hen. She was sitting on eggs in a nesting box. She tried to move to a different box and I think she may have cracked the egg then and that’s when she carried it out. Four of them ate it with her. She is currently sitting on six eggs elsewhere in the coop and there haven’t been any further occurrences of egg eating so I hope that issue was a one time thing.
