Did some reading and seems this is isn't a big deal and usually heals on it's own. Saw some mentions of possibly having extra bits removed. This happened less than 24 hours ago....not sure how it happened and by the time we discovered it the bleeding had stopped on it's own, she's acting totally normal. Should we get the little chunk removed or keep treating with betadine, keep an eye on it, and let it heal on it's own?

Sweet Blue Andalusian, she's a good patient!

Let it heal on its own. That severed bit may heal up, and if it doesn't it will be rejected and walled off by the chicken's system and eventually it will fall away.

Or the other chickens will see the dangling tissue and remove it surgically, as chickens so often do. Bottom line - combs and wattles and toes are expendable and heal well on their own. Just keep an eye on it.

I would clean and watch it, but if it attracks a lot of pecking, a sharp pair of scissors could be used to trim it off. I like to treat things conservatively, such as leaving it alone, before using a more drastic approach. Many people with certain breeds will dock or trim combs, but it is important to use very sharp scissors, and have blood stock powder, flour, or styptic handy for any bleeding.
