Hi there! I've much enjoyed stumbling upon threads of weekly chick growth/progression so I figured its finally time to throw my hat in the ring! I purchased all sexed pullets and I'm pretty sure I have 1 or more cockerels on my hands (so it goes).

I'm a first time chicken owner in a residential situation so I have a small flock of black copper marans, olive eggers, prairie bluebell eggers, and blue laced red wyandottes (or I'm my case splash laced red). Was going for egg color 😎

Currently the chicks are 6 and 7 weeks old and they got moved from the indoor brooder to the coop last week (in the central coast region of CA- highs currently in the 60- high 70s, lows of 40s).

I figured I'd do a post on each bird with their weekly? Hoping to help out others as they navigate this process as well 😊

Feel free to ask any questions!

BCM 1 - suspected cockerel - feathering slightly differently than the other BCM but I'm still hopeful

Olive Egger 1 - suspected cockerel, though as a hybrid with unknown parentage, I hear big combed hens are possible! Suspected F2 olive egger that was backcrossed with a cuckoo maran (feathering on legs, color, and the yellowish uneven dot on head as a day old chick)? I had believed that HER prominent comb was due to cream legbar heritage but a crest never developed [and I don't feel that she has any Ameraucana attributes] so who knows)

Olive Egger 2 - suspected ameracauna x maran (has cheeks for daysss) F1 olive egger pullet (supposedly many olive eggers are black due to a sex link version of breeding them?). She is of my favorites.

0W - black one near center with small white tuft on chest

1W - had a touch of brown on wing tips and a little less white on her chest than OE3
