welded wire fence for coop run

I am wondering if it would work out to use welded wire fence ( 2in x 4 in ) to fence in the coop's run . I would make a 2ft apron extending outward from the run so predators can not dig under . Then I could run hardware cloth a few feet up the sides of the run .

I would think that animals will not be able to chew through the welded wire fence .
I just found a good deal at the hardware store for the fencing 4 ft X 50 ft for $10 a roll.

Should work fine, like you said put something with smaller holes, chicken or hardware cloth on the bottom couple feet or however tall the roll is the keep smaller birds, and smaller pests out.
