I have to agree that Welsh Harlequins are good egg layers.
I've been breeding,buying, and selling them for a few years. This breed is also great for showing in shows! Here's a few pics of mine.

Is it normal for duckling from the same hatch to range in different sizes? I have 4, 3 females and one male. 2 are twice the size of the other 2.

I'd say it's normal. I have two mallards and one was always much larger than the other. Both ended up being male, and one was about 2.5lbs and the other about 3.5lbs. I didn't have my 3 Welshie girls as babies, but as adults they are definitely small, medium, and large, lol...I haven't weighed them yet but there is a noticeable difference not only looking at them but how they feel when you pick them up.
