Hello. On March 15, while at Theisen’s, I decided we could not wait till June to get chickens. They were there, they were CUTE and they also were not labeled. Except the white leghorn. I guess those are easy?

Anyway, the lady helping me explained that because of the HUGE increase in demand, Hoover’s Hatchery was no longer separating them by breed. It was up to the stores expert Chicken Tender to separate them by breed. So, over the next two days, I came home with our allotted 6 chickens.

2 Calico Princess which… look like the pictures. 1 Cinnamon Queen which looks like the picture. They look so similar, honestly. One is HUGE, the other two similar in size. One is named Rosie. But which one is Rosie depends on the day. I guess they’re all Rosie right now.

Then there’s supposed to be a sapphire Gem or maybe a Splash. Her name is Sparkles and she is a skittish little thing. She’s also the scrawniest and was last to get her feathers. Image 1

Then there’s Chipmunk who, well, looked like a chipmunk as a wee chick but now, not so much. She may be the queen bee for the lot. She enjoys running up to her sisters and jumping straight in the air in front of them. Hilarious to watch. Image 2

Sweet Meela. I think she’s the favorite. I picked her because she looked so different in the brooder. Gray, bits of yellow, a darker gray head. Was that some lavender in that fluff? Curious about us but just unimpressed enough to not want to be picked up. Image 3

Oooh. Wyandotte. How lovely. She was in with the Easter eggers and some other random black ones.
