I ordered 9 chicks and of the 9 I decided to do 4 mystery chicks. I was able to identify two but the other two have me stumped. The first is a mostly black chick with a black beak and fuzzy legs. The feet looked yellow as a day old chick but are now turning more of a pale grey and at 3 weeks old this little one is starting to get mostly black feathers with a few white ones thrown in the mix. The second chick in question is at the bottom of the lineup in the pic with the chipmunk looking chicks. The chick on top and the one in the middle are welsummers but the last chick is a little fluffier, the eyeliner marking is slightly different, and she is overall slightly lighter in color than the two welsummers. She’s also pictured again with a side profile standing next to one of the welsummers. Any ideas?

The black one is probably a Marans or one of the Marans cross layer varieties offered by the hatcheries.

The stripey one could be another Welsummer, a brown Leghorn or maybe some type of Easter egger. Time will tell.

This is the fuzzy footed one at a little over 3 weeks
Where did you get them from? Being feather footed i would guess some type of cochin, i dont think marans have feathered feed.
And the mystery chipmunk chick at 3 weeks
And i think this is a welsummer but it could be a brown leghorn.

I guess what is also throwing me off is I thought this chick was a welsummer originally but to me looks very different from the “mystery chick” who is now starting to look more like a welsummer. But this one feathered much faster and is quite a bit larger than the other chick so I’m thinking either this one is a rooster or a different breed than the other. Last pic is the “mystery chick” compared to this
