I was given 4 Pigeons and wondered if anybody knew what breed of Pigeon they were and is there a way to tell if they are male or female? Thanks for any help.

Thank you for the replies. Does anyone know if it would be smart to let them out in a few weeks to fly? Would they come back? Or are there certain varieties for that?

I would not fly kings (they look like kings to me, but I'm no expert. Not sure where that crest comes from on the last one). They are heavy birds and very easy pickings for predators and cars. They can tame down nicely though, and some even enjoy a good scratch. XD For more sure-to-come home birds, go for homers (racers, not show kinds). If you want to work and interact with your birds a bit more, choose a roller (not parlor rollers..they can't fly as adults) or tumbler breed. Relatively easy to obtain, and awesome to watch. Some kinds are better at evading hawks than others.
