What Breeds are considered for Fly Tying

I can't remember which one, but one of the hatcheries actually has a page on fly tying and which birds are suitable for which kind!

Cant believe I am just now finding this thread.

I am a fly fisherman and have my first order of chicks coming in the next few days.

Although the chicks were primarily bought for my kids and neighborhood eggs...a few nice sadles is a great secondary benefit!!

I got Barred Rocks, and Brown Leghorns for good materials. BO and Jersey Giants wont be as good but still usable.

I had been on the Henderson chart (which most everyone is familiar with) many times. At one point I noticed a very small, colorful icon listed next to some of the chicken characteristics.

I thought to myself...that looks like a Mickey Finn fly!? I checked the index and sure enough the "fly" was there to denote breeds that were used for tying materials.

Has anyone ever purchased the fly tyer special from McMurray? What breeds do you get in that package?
