What can chicks eat?

My chicks are nearly 2 weeks old. They have only had chick starter so far. They are in with my broody and she really seems to want to show them how to eat other things. When I go out to feed the others she wants to come out and tries to call the chicks to follow to eat the food. My big girls get a treat of grains (wheat/oats) mixed with seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, linseed) and pulses (peas/lentils). Would it be OK for mama hen to feed some of this to them if they have some chick grit as well? How about some greens eg cabbage?

Hi from another Rachel

My broody raised chicks are in with the flock, so they get whatever treats everyone else gets. Grit is needed, as you know, but otherwise they should be good to start enjoying some treats with momma.

Thanks Rachael. I'll let them have some small amount of extras then.
