What do yall think about carolina coops basic plan

...It's not like the Amish have standard set of designs or quality reqs nationwide.

indeed, it's not like just because it says "Amish" its always better ...

I am almost finished on this coop. it is 8' wide 6' deep with 4 nest boxes on the rear and cleanout doors on both sides which have removable screens so they can be opened for summer ventilation. The Cupola was a last minute addition as a replacement for ridge vents. It was built from scrap wood and an old bi-fold closet door I had running around. It is my first coop build so wish me luck, I will gladly share the original plans that I drew up to anyone that asks. When I get some time I will update them and post them to the site.

Did you ever get a chance to upload your plans here? I searched and couldn't find them. I would love more details about the coop you built. Thanks!

I too love the design of the carolina coop but like you they are on CRACK!!!! LOL on what they charge. But as fate would have it the DH is very handy and designed ours based around their coop. We modified a couple things but here is how ours came out. I'll be watching for updates on your new build.

Nice!
Curious about the roost.....do they roost on both levels?
How long is roost and how many birds?
upper bar is the roosting bar, lower is the poop board. We've added 3 more girls to the flock so the DH will be modifying it to accommodate the new additions. Started out with 6 so the angled roosting bar worked fine but I don't want overcrowding with 8 (lost one pullet last winter to Mareks) full grown hens. I'll post the new model when he's done. I've got a few "honeydo's" he will be working on in the next few weeks. We are expanding the open run to the back of our shed for more space. Very excited about the expansion!
