I use wood pellets and dust is cut down a lot with them. I brood indoors for the first 2-3 weeks as I love playing with the babies. When they get too big for the indoor brooders they can go out to the toddler chicken house.

Thank you for sharing. That's a good idea - the bird netting. I like this much better than the brooding bin/tote that I have. It's bigger, but also clear - so the chicks can see more and probably feel less "enclosed". It's actually plastic that's just thick enough. I like that there were floor panels too so it's sturdier. Right now I put bird netting over the top with clothespins, the cage panels I had before could fall in and hurt chicks. Great job raising baby chicks everyone!
