What do you love about where you live?

I love the lazy feeling out here.

I love our tree line where you can go in and feel as though you are in some magical forest...until you walk the full width-of-7-trees of it.

I love that folks wave as you drive by them on the road, in the nearby towns or greet you warmly at the store when you walk by them.

I love the sounds of the night...coyotes, owls and other as of yet described creatures.

I love all the different colored rocks you find when hiking...on any given day.

I love that you can see forever...without seeing a single soul, car, city skyline or smog!

I love our double rainbows!

I love that I have a ton of space to have a chicken haven.

and the list goes on...those are only the ones that are on the top of my head!

Well since we just moved out of the city a few weeks ago.

I love:

having a nice big yard where my daughter can play.
being 5 mins or less from the ocean
being 2 mins from the river/inlet that leads to the ocean
the peace and quiet compared to living in a tightly packed ghetto neighborhood.
having space to work on cars/bikes
having space to have a garden
only having a few weeks of winter most of it pretty mild
no snow, i love that
the people are much nicer around here
being able to see the stars at night, if you haven't lived in a city you wont understand about the stars.
privacy, gotta love that
not having to pay rent or a water bill anymore.
I love pretty much everything about it, summer gets a little warm especially when you work outside but otherwise, life is good

I love:
this farm, my own little Eden
the fact that Charlie dog is here with me and allowed to live out her retirement years indoors
and most of all, I love the sgt., my SO of 4 1/2 yrs. Why else would I have:
moved half way across the country in a sports car
with an irish wolfhound in the front seat
two siamese in the back seat...actually one was drapped over the passenger seat's headrest, barfing on the wolfhound the whole way
and all my worldly possessions crammed in around us!
It must be love!!

I totally agree.

I lived in a city just outside of Detroit in a home that had a very small yard.

I now live on a working ranch.

What I love about my place is that I have planted many trees since being out here, the shade trees have grown large enough to provide a lot of shade during the blazing hot summers, the fruit trees have provided a lot of food for both my family and animals in the area.

personally about my own property i love the view, stellar view of the berkshire mountains. most people who pull up my driveway are taken aback and pause to check it out.

plus i'm butted up to hundreds of acres of game refuge and a wild duck preserve.

ski mountain down the road and oodles of hiking trails around.

but about CT in general ~ the politics are to my liking.

most of my neighbors are fairly intelligent and good people, but a good mix of "good ole boys" running around on their quads with their hunting fatigues and rifles slung over their shoulders. and sometimes they're even the same person!

in my town the mill rate/taxes are good compared to surrounding towns.

I love so many things about San Antonio and about TX in general. I spent most of my life in northern IL

I love:
* the mild winters that allow me to hike and trailrun year round
* all the beautiful birds who visit my yard
* the opportunities to garden most of the year (and grow tender plants such as palms and citrus)
* the openness and friendliness of people
* availability of resources such as wonderful state parks
* more respect for police, government and a real sense of state pride
* people seem to enjoy themselves here more, they seem happier here
* some of the best Mexican food you can find north of Mexico
* all my chicken friends, who I get to see every month and who are just the best people I've ever met

Every post made me want to reply, the emotion, or the humor. And it seems like we all like similar things, and noone wants to live in the city

The howling storms
The depth of the stars with no city lights to diminish them
Tramping along the creek exploring the flora and fauna that call it home
Watching the momma bobcat groom herself at the far end of the pasture
Listening to the pack of coyotes sing on the ridge behind our house
Gazing in awe at the wildflower display outside my kitchen window in the springtime
Watching my horses frolic in their pasture
Hearing my roosters crow and hens cackle and watching them just be chickens as they peck and scratch around the yard
Not seeing any neighbors unless we want to
The quiet
Watching the sun rise over the mountain to the east as I shower in the mornings
Clear air
The length of the drive home which clears my mind
The way everyone in the area looks out for each other
The taste of the fresh water from our well
I could go on forever!

Absolutely NOTHING!

Unlike some of you, Im stuck in the middle of the city. My chickens live at my grandma's house, 15 minutes away. I guess the trees outside are nice. Oh, Ok, I do have one thing I love. We have this adorable little toad that lives in our backyard! I almost smushed him the other day, but he survived again.

From San Diego, everything is close.

When I want to hang glide-drive to laguna mt.

Feel like paragliding- drive to Torrey Pines.

Skiing- drive to big bear.

5 golf courses nearby.

Play in the sand- drive to the desert.

Gold prospecting- Julian or desert.

I love flying, I have three municipal airports within 10 miles.

Fishing-several freshwater lakes to shoose from and I live a few blocks from the ocean...

Here, cold means anything below 70.

My place is just big enough that I can get away with two or three chicks without getting up my neighbor's nose.
