what feed do you like and dislike

Chris, I can't find anything about Mazri Feed online via google. Any tips where I might find it? And what do you prefer using for animal protein in your own mixes? Thanks.
I misspelled the name, its Mazuri.
Mazuri is more a exotic animal feed that a lot of zoos use, its not cheap but it is good.
I order mine from mine direct from Mazuri and get it at a wholesale, you can go to there site and order it but like I said its not cheep. You may be able to get a local dealer of Purina to order it for you since Land-O-Lakes/Purina makes the feed.

Here is a link to there Game Bird feed --- http://www.mazuri.com/gamebird.aspx

I use fish meal or a game bird feed that contains both fish meal and pork along with a good mix of grains and alfalfa meal.
I also top dress with Bil-Jac frozen when I mix my feed.

Bil-Jac frozen contains ---

Beef Tripe, Chicken, Dried Bakery Product, Chicken By-Product Meal, Beef Liver, Dried Beet Pulp, Cane Molasses, Brewers Dried Yeast, Phosphoric Acid, Egg Product, Citric Acid, Choline Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, DL-Methionine, L-Lysine, Monohydrochloride, Cellulose Gum, Potassium Chloride, Zinc Proteinate, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (source of Vitamin C), Manganese Proteinate, Zinc Sulfate, Vitamin E Supplement, Ferrous Sulfate, Iron Proteinate, Inositol, Niacin Supplement, Copper Proteinate, Sodium Selenite, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Copper Sulfate, Riboflavin Supplement, Biotin, Vitamin A Acetate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Manganous Oxide, Cobalt Proteinate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Cobalt Carbonate, Calcium Iodate, Folic Acid.

I don't like feeds that have a lot of corn. Corn isn't really good for much of anything, except fattening them up. Purina feeds aren't that great either, but any of the foods they make aren't really good. Scratch..I've never had to use scratch, ever. If I give them a treat like that its always bird seed or a good cat food.

I do like Mana and the stuff my local mill makes. They have been pretty good for me so far.

GMO's really don't matter to me either, because I've never had anything wrong when I feed my birds something that is gmo.

You really don't know much about poultry nutrition or feedstuff do you?
If you did you would know that corn is a very good energy source, a good source of vitamins/minerals and does not fatten chicken much sense chickens eat to fill a caloric need and when chickens are fed high amounts of corn they thin out because they don't eat as much, they really don't get fat off corn.

Have you ever used Purina's Mazuri, Wildlife or there Show Feed? If not how do you know that all of Purina's feeds aren't good?
Wow, you get mad when someone just doesn't like something, calm down dude. As far as I can tell, corn really isn't much to them. Every where I see, corn isn't really that amazing as you say it is. And as for Purina, as far as I can tell, if their other pet foods are crap, then most of it is gonna be crap to me. Plus, I just don't like Purina, plain as that. I've tried the one at tractor supply(small bag, can't remember the exact name) and it wasn't that good. My chickens didn't really eat it as much as what I buy from my local mill, or Mana. Of course, some people may not like what I use and like Purina, that's their business.

Also, I can't shake off that you say corn is just so good for chickens--give me a good, unbiased source that is educational that tells me that corn "slims" a chicken down.

Any one have an opinion on the Kalmbach brand, my feed store just started carrying it and its cheaper then the feed ive been using (Layena). Any thoughts?

Matt, May I ask how you know this. Not saying I dont believe you just wondering if this is something you've heard or something you've seen. thanks

Chris does not seem "mad" at all - but to have misinformation peddled as fact can be frustrating when the correct information is readily available to anyone who takes the time to avail themselves of it. The only one reading as being defensive or taking this as more than a conversation about feed is you

I'm not really defensive as what my post looks like(of course it does look like I'm being really single minded obviously).

But I don't like Purina, he does, and that's ok. But the corn thing--I can't find anything that says that it slims down a chicken or has a lot of nutrients. Everyone I've talked to in my area only give it to their flock during the winter, because it literally "fattens" them up. But if someone likes to give their chickens that, good for them. Ain't got nothing to do with what I feed mine.

I switched to Countryside organic early this spring and the girls love it! Unfortunately, the egg production has been way down and that is the only change I've made in their environment. I have 2 year olds and 3 year olds that are normally excellent layers. I'm seriously considering going back to Manna or Purina. Any additional input would be greatly appreciated.

Reread what I posted,
I did not say I liked all Purina feeds, I said I liked there Wildlife and there Mazuri feed.
I also said that I dislike any poultry feed that does not contain animal proteins.....
