If the parents were both pure barred/cuckoo breeds (where the rooster carried two barred genes), or if together the parents would make sex linked offspring (as with a barred hen and non-barred rooster), then you may have been able to tell by the feathering at this stage I believe. As it is, I think we’ll just have to wait a little longer, like others have saidThe father was mixed, probably partially a Barred Plymouth Rock but he was with three hens, so I am not sure about the mom.
The broody is a gray Orpington. The other hen in the flock is probably a Rhode Island Red. I am not sure about the third, but she may be an Astralorp.
