I've done a few incubations and every now and then I will get a chick (Quail) that will have his toes curled in. Is this caused by something I'm doing wrong during the Incubation period?

Thanks in Advance
Richard

According the chicken chick (blogger) these are the causes (along with slippery flooring) for both straddle leg and curled toes:

  • temperature fluxuations during incubation
  • a difficult hatch that makes legs weak
  • leg or foot injury
  • brooder overcrowding
  • a vitamin deficiency
