Agreed. And could you get a closer up picture of the first bird?Age is always very important to know...but I'll guess about 12 weeks to 16 weeks?
And your top photo is not the best for color or highlights...so I zoomed in the best I could...if it represents the bird accurately...
The top Welsummer is male....black chest, red bars on wings, green in tail. Welsummer males and females are very differently colored.

The bottom bird is a Light Sussex, and assuming close to those ages, I think pullet.
